 About Maryam Liaquat

Maryam Liaquat is an 18-year-old social entrepreneur and the visionary Founder of Ecorise, a project dedicated to addressing one of Pakistan’s most pressing challenges: access to clean water and hygiene education for children. What began as a personal mission to create meaningful change has evolved into a growing movement impacting thousands of young lives across the country.

Through Ecorise, Maryam has conducted large-scale awareness sessions, developed educational tools, and designed the innovative Ecorise straw filter—providing children and families with practical, accessible solutions for safe drinking water. Her initiative not only educates communities about water scarcity and hygiene but also empowers children to become advocates for change within their own neighborhoods.

With support from international organizations, Ecorise has expanded its reach, enabling Maryam to scale her impact and bring sustainable solutions to more underserved communities. Witnessing children apply the knowledge and tools provided by Ecorise has been one of her most rewarding achievements.

Maryam’s leadership and impact have earned her recognition as a TED-Ed speaker, a place among the 100 Women Leaders of Pakistan, and the Social Impact award at the Global Youth SDGs Summit (GYSS).

Her journey is a powerful reminder that age is never a barrier to impact—and that one determined individual can create lasting, transformative change.
